Eric Rottcher, originally from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and now based in Bethesda, Maryland, is a mixed media collage artist whose work delves into the complex, often hidden layers of human experience. Earning a BFA from Shippensburg University in 2011, Rottcher’s art has been showcased in both solo and group exhibitions, finding homes in private collections across the United States and internationally. Describing himself as “a lowbrow fine artist,” he embraces an outsider’s perspective, finding beauty in the raw, unexpected, and overlooked.
Rottcher’s art is deeply rooted in his own life journey—his time in the U.S. Army, battles with addiction, and the enduring reality of
his mother’s brain aneurysm. These personal experiences shape his themes, exploring addiction, secrets, love, and loss. His work invites viewers into the concealed spaces of the self, prompting reflections on trauma, resilience, and the beauty that lies within life’s imperfections. Each piece serves as an intimate window into both Rottcher’s story and the broader, unspoken facets of the human experience.
