Eric Rottcher is a mixed media collage artist whose work explores the intricate and often darker dimensions of the human experience. A graduate of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania with a BFA in Fine Art and Aesthetics (2011), Rottcher’s art has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, with pieces held in private collections across the United States and internationally. Drawing inspiration from Absurdist and existentialist philosophies, as well as Dadaism and Art Brut, he describes himself as “a lowbrow fine artist,” embracing an outsider’s perspective and finding beauty in the raw, unexpected, and overlooked.
Rottcher’s art is deeply informed by his personal journey—battles with addiction, brushes with the law, and the enduring challenge of his mother’s brain aneurysm. These experiences shape his work, delving into themes of addiction, identity, secrets, love, and loss. His pieces invite viewers to explore the recondite corners of the self, sparking reflection on trauma, resilience, and the imperfect beauty of life. Each artwork offers an intimate window into Rottcher’s story while connecting to the raw truths of the human condition.
