In this series, I treat the body as both landscape and artifact. The figures are vulnerable but monumental, anonymous but intimate. They’re built out of what’s left after everything unnecessary has been stripped away—form, posture, flesh, residue, and the faint echo of a person.

This series is about the endurance of the figure: how it persists through distortion, through erasure, through cultural noise. It’s the human body as memory, as ruin, as a site of meaning before language fully arrives

Eric Rottcher is a mixed media collage artist based in Silver Spring, MD, originally from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. His work explores themes of addiction, grief, memory, and psychological fragmentation through a mixed media approach, coupled with collage and décollage techniques. 

Rottcher’s artwork has been described as a blend of Neo-Expressionism, Pop Surrealism, and gritty Outsider Art. Through symbolic imagery—party hats, wilted flowers, teeth, eyes—he examines the aftermath of addiction, the struggle for recovery, and the emotional residue of lived experience.
